What is a Conservation District?
Conservation districts are political subdivisions of the State of Arkansas. They are a creation of popular vote of resident landowners for the purpose of conserving our land and water resources as authorized by Act No. 197 of the Arkansas General Assembly of 1937; the Nation's first conservation district law.
Conservation districts are local governments at work and their specific responsibility is management of our soil and water resources. The idea behind their formation is to keep decision making on soil and water conservation matters at the local level. Each district is governed by a board of five directors who serve without pay. Two directors are appointed by the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission and three are elected by resident landowners.

NEW RENTAL EQUIPMENT HAS ARRIVED!!
The Montgomery County Conservation District received funds from
a grant by the EPA & State Office to help get new rental equipment for our county. They also used money they received from the Quorum Court & Voluntary Tax, to purchase the new Spray Rig & Pasture Punch, which will be available for rent through the Mount Ida Farmers Co-op for Montgomery County farmers & ranchers.
Anyone wanting to rent the equipment, has to come by the Montgomery County Conservation District during working hours,
to sign-up, as an approved user, once a year,
before being able to rent it from the Mount Ida Farmers Co-op.
The Conservation District is open
Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
If you have any questions, Cheryl Barrett, District Secretary, can be reached at 870-867-2671(office) or 870-490-0177 (cell).

Attached is a cheat sheet regarding the Partners for Fish & Wildlife Program. We're here to help deliver the Farm Bill programs and to establish/maintain high quality fish and wildlife habitat. We're also here to help landowners with cost share for priority practices in our focus areas. If they're not eligible for a Farm Bill program, don't let that be the end of the road. In a lot of instances we can help fund a project. They're all worth looking at, so feel free to send my way.
I cover all counties south of the Arkansas River.
Thanks!
Mike

The Montgomery County Conservation District receives $20.00 for each Conservation District Specialty Plate issued through our counties Dept. of Finance & Administration office or DMV. Any motor vehicle owner may apply for the Department of Conservation District’s license plate. These funds go to help support the tree program which is presented to all 4th graders in the our county, help support the County Extension Ag Day, the Poultry Farm Operation Meeting/Dinner, help support the kids that show at the County Fair, help buy new rental equipment for our farmers to use, etc. Your support is greatly appreciated. Thank You!!
THE NEW SPECIALTY LICENSE PLATES HAVE ARRIVED
Montgomery County & the Montgomery County Conservation District sponsored a Chainsaw Workshop & Spaghetti meal. We had approximately 40 people from all over the county here to learn all the ins & outs of chainsaw safety.
One participant said “I thought I knew all there was to know about a chainsaw, but boy was I wrong.”
